***** The Independent
"Some sort of god damn creative masterclass" Artrocker
"One of the most admirably daring live realisations of an album ever. It demands to be seen and remembered. Unlike anything we've witnessed before. Superb." Crack magazine
"Wils Wilson's production cleverly creates the sense that you are not just watching the 60s unfold but are actually there." The Guardian
Both a live gig and a piece of immersive theatre, Praxis Makes Perfect relives the extraordinary life and death of Communist millionaire publisher Giangiacomo Feltrinelli. Created for National Theatre Wales with Mercury-nominated Welsh-American electro-pop duo Neon Neon (Gruff Rhys and Boom Bip), Praxis Makes Perfect played in an industrial warehouse, large music venues and nightclubs in Cardiff, Bristol, London and Berlin.
Putting the audience at the heart of the action, performers at head height moved through the crowd on outsize desks. The audience were often involved - hiding the manuscript of Dr Zhivago from Soviet soldiers, creating a 60s happening, dancing, swapping books with a stranger. At other times when the action became darker, they stood in quiet concentration, watching the strange life of Giangiacomo Feltrinelli unfold.
